What are OKX Card spending limits?

Spending limits let you control how much you can spend with your OKX Card. There are two limits you can set:

  • Per-transaction limit — the maximum amount for any single purchase.

  • Daily limit — the maximum total you can spend across all transactions in one day.

Both limits work together to help you manage your spending and protect your account from unauthorized use.

What types of spending limits are available?

Limit Type

Description

What happens when exceeded

Per-transaction

Maximum amount for a single purchase

Transaction is declined

Daily

Maximum cumulative spend in one day

Further transactions are declined until midnight UTC

Both limits are independently adjustable.

Are spending limits turned on automatically?

Yes. Both limits are active from the moment your card is approved, set to default values based on your region. No setup required — your limits are ready to go right away.

Can I turn off spending limits?

No. Spending limits are always active and cannot be disabled. This is standard across the industry — no major card issuer allows limits to be fully turned off.

You can, however, adjust your limits to any value between 1 USD and the maximum for your region, giving you full flexibility while keeping a safety net in place.

How do I view or change my spending limits?

  1. Open the OKX app

  2. Go to Card management → Spending limits

Card management page with the spending limits

  3. You'll see two cards: Per-transaction and Daily — both show your current limit

Spending limit page with the settings

  4. Tap either card and use the slider or key in a value to adjust

  5. Set your desired amount and tap Confirm

Transaction limit set page with the value of your preference

  6. Your new limit takes effect immediately

What is the maximum limit I can set?

The maximum varies by region, based on local spending patterns. The slider in the app shows your full available range (from 1 USD/EUR up to your regional maximum).

Can I change my limits mid-day?

Yes, changes take effect immediately:

  • Per-transaction limit — applies to your very next transaction.

  • Daily limit — your spending so far today is preserved, and your remaining allowance recalculates instantly.

Example: You've spent 2,000 today and lower your daily limit from 5,000 to 3,000 > you'll have 1,000 remaining for the day.

Note: If you lower your daily limit below what you've already spent today, a confirmation prompt will warn you. If you proceed, further transactions will be declined until midnight UTC.

When does my daily spending limit reset?

Your daily total resets to zero at 00:00 UTC every day. Your full daily allowance is available again after the reset.

If I get a refund, will my daily allowance be restored?

No. Refunds credit your wallet balance but don't restore your daily spending allowance. It resets naturally at midnight UTC.

Exception: If a merchant voids a transaction before settlement (a reversal), the amount is removed from your daily total and your allowance is restored.

Can I change my limits while my card is frozen?

No. You cannot edit spending limits while your card is frozen or suspended.

Note that the daily spending total continues to accumulate normally while frozen — freezing your card does not pause or reset it. When unfrozen, your remaining allowance reflects whatever was left at the time of the freeze, minus any overnight resets that occurred.

What happens when I hit my spending limit?

Your transaction is declined, and you'll receive a push notification and email indicating which limit was reached.
